Bisbee.
I walked up in the middle of the morning, shaken after a rough night’s sleep. It had been a long night of nightmares and I knew that the only way to clear my head would be to go for a ride and with the files and read them somewhere with enough routes of escape if something went wrong. I got the files from the office downstairs and put them into my bag, strapping it around my shoulder and headed down the road.
Black Diamond.
I rode through Black Diamond and remembered the place where Alex and I went the other day to discuss things. I knew that was where I would find peace again and be able to investigate this mystery with clarity. I saw Matt by the sheriff’s office and rode over to him.
“Howdy Trin,” he tipped his hat.
“Deputy,” I nodded.
“Nice horse,” he smiled.
“Thanks,” I said, somewhat distracted. I knew I need to talk to him as a lawman.
“You’re welcome. Trin, perhaps we can talk later? I am going to attend some business and will be back.”
“Yeah, hopefully... If I’m still...” I stopped myself from saying ‘alive’.
“Just stay safe, you hear?” he winked.
“No promises,” I shook my head.
“Will be back Trin,” he said as he mounted Wind.
“Yeah,” I said and rode on.
I rode through Bisbee and onward towards Pierce and Benson. I wondered why Matt would blow me off like that, I shook it off, knowing I had more serious thinks to worry about. I didn’t feel confident enough to keep reading so I just kept riding until I felt clarity again.
