February 2, 1900

Black Diamond.

I walked through Diamond and smiled when I saw Alyssa sitting on the bench by the big tree. “Hey there. Alyssa right? We met at the saloon the other day?”

“I think so,” she laughed. “I’m so bad with names, an been meetin’ a lots new people.”

“It’s alright. Detective Trin Paige.”

“Good ta meet you officially then,” she chuckled. “I’m Alyssa Criss.”

“Right, remember meeting you with my friend Alex.”

“Oh yes, and how is Alex?”

“Doin’ just fine. Got to finally heal someone.”

“Stray, come!” she said to her dog who’d run around.

I jumped as the raven soared beside me and landed on the post. “Geez that thing scares me every time. Darned bird.”

“Oh good, I hope he wasn’t overly thrilled about it,” she giggled. “Explains why this here dog was barkin’ then.”

“I think secretly, perhaps. It’s nice when we finally get work to do,” I chuckled. “I think the bullet just grazed her anyway.”

“Well that’s good, those things git deadly.”

“True enough,” I nodded.

“At least in this part of the city it seems to be more quiet. Ain’t been a shootin’ since I got here a little over a week ago.”

“Yeah Diamond seems to be more peacful lately, though I reckon that could change anytime too.”

“Shh!” she laughed. “Weren’t gonna say nothin’!”

“Guess I’ll wander ‘round, see what’s happening. Good to see you again, Aly.”

“Likewise, ma’am! Take care!”

I called over for my horse and then rode out of town.

Tombstone.

As I rode into Tombstone, I saw Ivy, Freja and Victoria sitting on the roof of one of the stores. I walked over to the Epitath building and saw Dave and Jenna sitting there talking. “Hey you two!” I said as I dismounted.

“Hiya Trin,” Jenna smiled.

“How’s my favorite sheriff and newspaper woman?”

“Just paechy!”

“Hi Trin,” Dave smiled.

“Don’t s’pose you need my help with anything, huh Mr Sheriff?”

“Nothing I can think of. I’m still trying to get caught up on things.”

“Nice to have you back,” I nodded.

“How’s the detective biz?” Jenna asked.

“Starting to pick up again now that the court’s recognizing how much I can help them.”

“That’s good.”

“Mmhmm. How’s the paper?”

“This is editing week for me... time to gather everything together, finish a couple articles... and get it out.”

“I remember those days... Nothing like that hot off the press feeling.”

“True. It’s work, but I enjoy it,” Jenna smiled.

“Trin, have you seen a current listing of warrants and bounties?” Dave asked.

“Oh yeah... I was meaning to ask you Sheriff...” Jenna said. “Would it help if there was a listing of warrants printed in the paper?”

“Hm.... Let me think. I wouldn’t think so since they get done so quickly, but that’s just me. I haven’t seen a current list, no Dave. Would think we’re about due for one.”

“Hmm, not warrants in the paper, but maybe a bounty list..you know like wanted poster stuff?” Dave suggested.

“I agree. Bounty list might be better,” I nodded.

“Only warrant I see is for Jack for killing the Fort General,” Dave noted.

“Same day he shot Ada and attempted to rob a bank in Pearce though no one reported those,” I nodded. “I wasn’t around for it... only heard about it from Ada as she was getting healed at the clinic.”

“Here’s a copy of that warrant,” Dave said and handed me the paper.

“Thanks. I think I’m gonna go lay down for a bit. I’ll see ya’ll later.”

“Rest easy, Trin, and take care,” Dave said and I headed to my apartment to lay down for a nap.
