January 28, 1900

Tombstone.

This afternoon I walked over to the crowd in front of Kate’s and greeted everyone. I asked David if he wanted to follow me to Diamond and we walked down the street towards Diamond.

Black Diamond.

“Nice day out, ain’t it?” I asked as we walked.

“Very nice. it’s been pretty quiet too. Up ahead is my office.”

“Been debating movin’ back to Diamond... I’m on the fence about it though. Lots of memories.”

“I take it not all good ones?”

I followed him to the office and said, “This is a nice office indeed. And no, not completely good memories, though some I s’pose are positive.”

“Come on in,” he opened the door and we walked inside.

“S’pose this is still my office too... Since I’m still a lawyer in this area.”

“Yeah no reason you couldn’t take one of those desks,” he pointed to the ones in the back. I smiled and took a seat as he said, “Could be another reason ta’ move back.”

“Indeed... Might actually get some work out here. Anything you need my investigating help on? Did ya figure out if that dog made the mess?”

“Nope not yet, seems no one much interested in dog poop crime.”

“Nothin’ else goin’ on?”

“Got the saloon Grand Opening tonight.”

“Oh nice, that’ll be fun.”

“Other then that been kinda quiet, like all the outlaws on vacation.”

“Guess so. Makes it boring for the rest of us,” I winked.

“Yeah, I agree,” he smiled.

“Just would be nice to have something to do, David... It’s been literally weeks. Not even a trial to keep us entertained on the weekends.”

He leaned in and whispered, “I think the last trial that happen in this county was mine.”

“Mmhmm I believe you’re right.”

He leaned back and said, “And look at me now I done my time and a lawyer myself.”

“Mmhmm. Who knew, huh? Time really does change things I guess. Maybe that means that it would be okay to move back here. I always loved the town of Diamond. Don’t make much of a difference though. I can live and work anywhere.”

“Mayor Krell working hard to get this town going.”

“Yeah he seems to be doin’ well,” I nodded. “I should head out and see what I can discover for cases. Good to touch base with you.”

“Yes it is, please come by anytime.”

I smiled and headed out of the office.
