January 16, 1900

Tombstone.

I walked into town and saw Serenity standing in front of Kate’s. “Hi there Serenity.”

“Hey Trin.”

“How are things?” I asked and then blinked, seeing the man sitting in front of the Epitath. “Do my eyes deceive me? Durden?!”

“Got any new cases you need help with?” Serenity grinned.

“Not a danged thing,” I shook my head.

Tye drummed his fingers on a box while flipping his flask over in his hand, then nearly dropped it. “Gah, hell Trin. I ain’t a ghost.”

I chuckled and waved to him. “Hey there, stranger. Been ages.”

“A while. Not sure if long enough, yet,” he set the flask on the table.

“Yeah I hear that... I’ve been up north... decided to take some time with my family. Just haven’t had anything to do around here.”

“You can go fishing,” a little girl who had come over to join us. “That’s always fun.”

“Family,” Tye shook his head, then started to drink from his flask, fidgeting with his box again.

“You know what my family’s been through. We’re closer than most. Besides... wasn’t feeling very needed here. Still ain’t sure if I am,” i looked at him.

“Howdy folks,” a man said as he walked over.

I looked at him and said, “Hi Sir, don’t think we’ve met yet.”

“No I do not believe so. My name is Sid.”

“Trin Paige. Nice to meet you, Sid.”

“Pleasure is all mine Paige.”

“You been around Tombstone long?” I smiled at him.

“Not too long, I suppose. Please excuse me, I need to sit a spell.” He nodded and walked over to the chairs in front of Kate’s and sat down.

“Howdy folks,” Karl said, walking over.

“Hey there Karl. Like seeing a bunch of ghosts from the past tonight.”

“Well I needed some rest.”

“So did I,” I nodded. “Good to see some people in town again.”

“Yes, but we need more law.”

“If your going to rob the bank, the banker man is fast with his gun!” we heard Rikki shout from in the bank.

“Well... I’m around to help solve cases but these days there ain’t much need for me. People get shot, then the shooter gets arrested,” I said and then went to sit down beside Tye.

“Hi hon, Trin,” Peta said, coming over to join us.

“Sorry I’m so quiet, Tye... Just regrouping about being back in town...” I told him after a while.

“Look, I know that you’re mad about the raccoon, but honestly I didn’t think it’d get that far,” Peta said, then look at me, “Oh yes, by all means talk about Trin’s stuff.”

“Just so long as its out now,” Tye groaned.

I shook my head and said, “I do my singing here Monday then spend the rest of the week at home up north or here alone in my apartment. I have little stuff to talk about.”

“Well that ain’t a problem, Trin. Just open yer mouth and things come out!” Peta said.

“Ain’t like I enjoyed all the talking you used to do anyhow, Trin,” Tye shrugged.

I looked at him and said, “Well... be thankful I have not much to talk about anymore.”

“I got things to talk about! Like, uhh.. yesterday... somebody got shot.”

Tye drank from his flask and said, “This isn’t news either, Peta.”

“Someone got shot, someone got upset, someone got arrested. Someone gets on the docket... No trial happens so it goes to bounty and becomes a closed case?” I guessed.

“Well I dunno, I don’t stick around. Oh! And this couple put a whole buncha money in the bank,” she replied.

“So someone robbed a bank, law arrest them, then they go to trial or don’t and it goes on the docket and then it goes to bounty?” I guessed again.

“I dunno what happened, Trin. There was that new deputy. Seems like an upright sort,” Peta told me as Suzy walked over and we greeted her.

We talked for a bit longer and then I decided to head back to the office so I said goodbye to them.
