Tombstone.
This morning I walked into town and sat down with Ali in front of Kate’s. We talked about the festivities tomorrow for the Fourth of July and talked with Pet and others who came over to sit with us. We talked about when I was going to be singing again and I said that I hoped it would happen tomorrow. Richie noticed that I had started wearing a gun again and I said that since the letters had happened I thought it would be safer. I noted that I hadn’t heard anything in a while and Ali suggested I probably would since the town still didn’t have the clocks back. We talked about the rumors of a new sheriff and how the town had changed so much recently. I met a girl named Rebba Karu, one of Pet’s daughters.
I wandered around town, looking for Ansar, and found him standing in the maze of balloons near the fort. “Ah, there you are marshal.”
“I wasn’t hiding or anything.”
“Question for ya. People saying BB turned herself in right after the shooting. Why we still lookin’ for her?”
“No one told me she turned herself in. After she shoot me she took off.”
“Girl named Jan said that after she’d shot Cletis, she turned herself in eventually. Wasn’t sure why.”
“Cletis the ranger? Yeah, that was the first arrest. That’s the second, well... going to be.”
“Oh okay so she shot Cletis, turned herself in, then shot you and disappeared? The marshals report ya gave me didn’t really have a description of the crime at all.”
“Shoot Cletis, turn herself in doing her time I let her go outlaws shoot at me, and her too. Ran off to Bisbee. That’s where she should be. Yes it did.”
“Well that’s helpful to know. Guess I’ll meander over to Bisbee then.”
“Thanks. Need to go as well.”
I waved to him and sighed, remembering that Ansar ran to Bisbee, not Black Diamond, so she could still be anywhere.
This afternoon I did my gig in Bisbee and then went to the festivities in the evening in Tombstone. There was a group that played instruments on the stage and Castion sang. I spent most of the evening with Skyla and Sirus and sat at a picnic table near the dance area. There was quite a large crowd and later I met up with Lawrence at Kate’s and danced with him until he walked me home.
