Tombstone.

This morning I sat in front of the Epitath and waved to Lil and the man she was with as they walked over. He said his name was Jimmy and that he’d only been in town a few days. Tessa came over but I really didn’t want to make it obvious that I was uncomfortable around her so I went into the hotel and got myself some coffee. I walked down to Kate’s and sat down with my coffee, and greeted others as they walked over and joined me. I worked in my notebook as the conversation flowed around me and got some work done on case files for the Pinkerton records.

“How was your trip, Miss Trin?” Ali asked me eventually.

“Well... the gang that killed my father shot me when they saw me comin’ to the house. They said that we still owed them money that I guess Dad owed them... They said Dad had joined their gang and they wanted what was due them still.”

“Oh goodness. I reckon you got the money to them seeing that you’re still alive?”

“We don’t have that kind of cash,” I shook my head. “My parents ran a ranch and now my mom’s running it on her own with my brother helping occasionally. I helped them escape and came back here knowing I had to take care of work still... but I fear it’s not the end of this.”

The conversation changed direction and I went back to my notes, but looked up and nodded to Shaane who I had met a while ago. A young boy came over named Kato Cheng came over and taught us how to speak a few different Chinese words and phrases. For some reason I found it hard to focus today and tried to follow the words as I wrote them down in my notebook to remember for later.

Tina came over and asked who to talk to about becoming a deputy. I told her that they were hiring law over in Black Diamond and she could go talk to them.

Richie called for a coffee from me and I heard him from the balcony of my office. I said goodbye to the others and got a coffee from inside Kate’s before I wandered over, laughing at him. “I’ve gotta start locking that door,” I muttered. Then I called up and asked, “You think you can just steal my spot eh?”

“Coffee for me? How did you guess I was wanting some?” he smiled at me as I walked up through the office and handed him the mug.

“You hailed,” I chuckled.

“Steal yer spot? Weren’t nobody here when I got here, I figured it was up fer the taking.”

“Uh huh. Next time I’m gonna lock this office door.”

“And thank ya fer the coffee.”

“You’re welcome, I think.”

“Yeah you might wanna do that very thang. It’s hard telling what kinda misfits could come in yer place.”

“Well sit a spell. Fine spot you got here,” he said to me.

“It is a pretty nice spot,” I smiled and leaned against the wall.

“Well fine then, be a snooty thang.”

“Just distracted today for some reason... Don’t know why.”

“Well I’ll leave ya be. It’s about nap time.”

“Not sayin’ ya have to go.”

“Good luck with catching up with what you gotta do or not do... Oh no never let it be said i stood in the way of progress.”

I waved goodbye to him and sat in my chair, pulling out my notebook.

Bisbee-Black Diamond.

This afternoon I received a telegram from Ali saying that she needed to talk to me about something. I headed out that way and saw her in front of the city hall. “Hey Ali! I received a telegram that you were looking for me?”

“Ah yes! Afternoon Miss Trin. I have a job position available as Court Clerk. Was wondering if perhaps you would be interested. Right now the court is not running but we still have reports to deliver to Tombstone and the occasional court here in town.”

“Actually I’ve been thinking more about that position of deputy that I got an application for a while ago... How about if I work as a lawyer here? Get in some more case experience in the courtroom here?”

“That would be wonderful. we need more lawyers and judges to get the courts running again.”
She handed me an application and I filled it out and she said that she would let Gabe look it over. I said goodbye and headed back to Tombstone.

Tombstone.

Walking back into town, I asked Kris if there were any cases open that he needed help with, but he said there weren’t. I decided to go back to the office and got some more work done on case files.

This evening I saw a crowd in front of the clinic and walked over to see what was going on. Punk, Maxx, Frank, Cole, Libby and Skyla were all talking in a group and I just stood by, seeing what was going on. I decided to head into Kate’s and refilled my flask with whiskey.

A woman came over and I looked up, blinking. I recognized her and said, “Twist, well I’ll be. I keep running into ghosts from the past all over the place here. How ya been?”

“I am well thank you... Well call me crazy but putting my family back together,” she smiled.

“Oh are ya?”

“Yes I am also decided to volunteer at the orphanage.”

“That’s wonderful! I’m still a detective,” I winked. “This job don’t get old, ya know?”

“Yes indeed and trying to get Tj back to a normal human being...”

“Good luck with that,” I chuckled softly.

“Has your brother moved here with you?”

“He’s back at the ranch with mom...” I shook my head. “We’ve been dealing with some uh... threats. I was just there for a week. He comes here occasionally though.”

“I see ya must miss him a lot. You guys were together a lot,” she looked at me with concern.

“I do miss him a lot, yeah. Even more now that I’m worried about the both of them.”

Sirus and Skyla came out of the hotel then and I introduced the, to Twist. We talked a bit about Punk and Twist said that the outlaws had seemed to take over the place since she was last here. We continued to talk as the outlaws continued to talk down the street. TJ came over and I smiled at the sight of the two of them back together again.

Twist went off and got Tommy to come over and I told him that I remembered him back when he was a baby. It seemed like so long ago that we had all lived in Georgetown together. Tommy ran off to catch a frog and then I saw him talking with a woman who I didn’t know yet.

As the conversation continued, Karan Quandry walked over. I jumped up and gave her a hug, not having seen her for as long as I hadn’t seen Twist. With such a good reunion, the three of us sat down and caught up on what we had been up to since we’d all seen each other last.
