August 27, 1899

Tombstone. 

I sat in front of the hotel this morning needing a change of scenery and maybe meet some new people. Paisley walked over and we talked about how there was a new man in town named Beau. She promised that he would brighten my day and I said I would have to get to know him. I greeted Bubba and then heard Chase open the bank so I walked over to say hi. 

“Good morning,” I greeted him as I walked into the bank. 

“Howdy ma’am, welcome to the tombstone bank and trust.” 

“Thought I’d try to brighten your day a little, and it’s been ages since I’ve seen you. How are things, Chase?”

“A highlight first thing in the morning surely. Things seem to be going nice and orderly, though it is still early in the day, so we’ll just have to see,” he smiled. 

“Indeed... Decided to get some social time in before I start work over in Bisbee for the day. It’s nice to see you again. Was getting worried about you for a bit there last month.”

“Now what ever would have you worried about me darling?” he asked, chuckling a bit as Paisley came in and I introduced them. 

“Well... back when I needed ya for that statement against Tessa robbing the bank in July... I actually wrangled a plea bargain out of Lot so we got the case after all. Ain’t seen ya since before then.”

“Is there anything I came help either of ya’ll with while you’re down here?” Chase looked between us. 

“Chase, how does one open an account?” Paisely asked him. 

“I’ll let you two talk business. Enjoy the coffee Chase,”  I said and winked at him. 

“Why thank you kindly ma’am, it is appreciated,” he nodded towards me. 

I headed down the street and saw Bubba sitting in front of Kate’s. We talked about what happened to Bill but he hadn’t heard any information either. 

I went back to Bisbee and spent the morning being on duty and writing in my notebook. A man rode through town and I waved. “Hello there, Sir.” 

“Howdy, ma’am.” 

“Don’t believe we’ve met. New in the area?”

“Yes, ma’am.” 

“Deputy Trin Paige,” I smiled at him. “And you are?”

“Just passing though town.” 

I nodded and looked at his horse. “Alright then... Nice horse ya got.”

“My name is, Lucas Gray.” 

“Lucas, a pleasure to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you, also.” 

“Well I won’t keep ya if you want to continue on your ride.”

“Thank you ma’am,” he nodded and I watched him ride out of town. 

This afternoon Lilly walked through town and we talked for a bit. Pet came over then and told me that she needed to talk to Nim about something. I said we could head to Black Diamond together and led the way. 

Black Diamond. 

We walked into town and Pet found Nim so I wandered on through town to see who I could find. I waved to Matt and Abby and heard him tell her about how he had become part of the calvary. 

“Don’t let me interrupt, just thought I’d come say hi,” I looked between them. 

“How are you today, Miss Trin?” Abby asked. 

Matt smiled at me, “Miss Abby has been telling me about her activities at Tombs... I did not know that she runs the hotel and helped with the orphans.” 

“Uneventful today. Might wander over to Tombstone and see what’s goin’ on there.”

“Oh that is the easy part Sir, its the ranch that keeps me the most busy,” Abby smiled at him. “Oh yes, it has been quiet over here today.” 

“Oh? don’t you have hired hands to help you at the ranch, Ma’am?” Matt asked Abby. 

“Reckon I’ll carry on,” I waved to them then and headed back to Bisbee to rest for the evening.
