Bisbee.
This morning I looked around Bisbee looking for a new house. It was time to go from an apartment to something more substantial and I was feeling lonely. It was also time to get out of Black Diamond since so many people that I’d stayed there for had moved on to other towns. I looked at one house in Bisbee but wasn’t completely sure on it and wanted to keep looking.
A boy walked over to me then and I looked down. “You alright kiddo?”
“Ummm, yes I ok...I was lookin for sombody.”
“I’m good at finding people. Who are ya lookin’ for?”
“I don no her all name..just Miss Trin, she a lie detective..my friend Natalie no her.”
“That’s me!” I grinned. “Nice to meet you kiddo. What’s your name?”
His eyes went wide and he smiled big. “I’m Jimmy Wheeler...Natalie and I bes friends.”
“That’s great to hear! Nice to meet you, Jimmy! I’m lookin’ for a new house.”
“Nice meet you to Miss Trin..I need talk to you bout sumtin tho.”
“What’s wrong? Is it ‘bout Sabi? I saw the note from Nat.” I looked down at him with concern.
He nodded, looking around. “Sabi and Poppy...some meen man looking for dem.”
“Can you tell me what he looks like?”
“Ummm...he tall, stinky, dark hair, he wears a big shooter, biggern yorn Miss Trin, he say he der pa, and chasd ‘em around town. He say he lookin for red hair brat, who is his, but was taken from him..he mention autumn and aerryyy someone”
“I will definitely try to find him. Maybe we could look around together?” I nodded.
“He tole me and Natalie in the hotel, he hate kids, but he lookin fer one. He a bad man Miss Trin.”
“That ain’t good. Did you tell any other adults?”
“We tell Mr Alex and his umm, Miss Aly Sheriff.”
“That man talked to me. He sounded like a bad man,” a woman who was standing nearby said then.
“He did? What’d he say to you?”
“Yeah asked me about a red haired brat? Told him I hadn’t seen anyone.”
“Good, that’s good.”
“See Miss Trin, that him...that same man,” Jimmy said.
“He told me I better not be lying,” the girl added.
“Don’t tell him anything,” I advised.
“I tole him leev Nat alone in hotel, and he tole me to hush if I new what good fer me...he scare us both,” Jimmy said.
“Jimmy, do you want to come with me to find Mr. Alex and Mrs. Aly?”
“Yes ma’am, I go wit you, it’s spooky here.”
“Okay great. Ma’am,” I looked at the woman. “If he talks to youu again, tell someone with a badge.”
“I sure will.”
“I didn’t catch your name, Miss?”
“Name’s Jaaela.”
“Jaaela, I’m Detective Trin Paige. Nice to meet you and welcome to Tombstone.”
“Sorry lost my manners there. Thank you and nice to meet you.”
“It’s alright. Stay safe. Come on, kiddo,” I smiled to Jimmy and we walked towards Benson.
Benson.
“Hey you two,” I smiled when I saw my two best friends.
“Hey Trin!” they both greeted me at the same time.
“Guess who I found!”
“Hi again, Jimmy!” Alex greeted him.
“HI Miss Lay Sheriff and Mr Alex,” Jimmy said to them.
“We were lookin’ around for you but I’ve also decided to move out of Diamond. It’s time. It’s a part of my life that needs to stay in the past. The lab will still be there.”
We walked around Benson and looked at available houses but didn’t find anything that I liked. The boys found a pond and started to fish while Aly and I continued to wander around and find me a house.
Pearce.
Aly and I found a house that was available in Pearce, near the main bridge into the town. There was a river just beside the house and trees where I could climb and sit while looking out over the water. I spent the rest of the day settling in and getting used to my new home.
