Tombstone.
I walked over to Kate’s this morning and waves to the group. “Howdy folks. Don’t think we’ve met yet,” I said to the man I didn’t recognize.
“Howdy Ma’am,” he nodded to me.
“Detective Trin Paige. And you are?” I smiled at him.
“Logan Keiser here Ma’am,” he took my hand and shook it.
I smiled and shook his hand, looking over to Jan. “Hey Jan, were you around when the bank was robbed during that street dance the other week?”
“Not that I recall, that bank’s robbed so often it’s hard to keep track,” she looked at me.
“Was when the gang took over the fort and decided to pretend to be lawmen,” I smirked.
“Then I reckon I was otherwise occupied.”
“So you don’t wanna give me a statement of what ya saw then, huh?”
“I didn’t see anything.. that involved the bank.”
“Alright then,” I smiled and crossed her name off my list of people to question. I looked over at Logan and asked, “Logan, new in town?”
“Nay Ma’am I been around, Just haven’t been the social type recently....” he chuckle and then trailed off.
“Fair enough. Well it’s nice to meet you, Logan. Always good to know the folks round town. You got a job or somethin’ then?” I smiled.
“Morning everyone,” Seth said as he walked over.
“I’m Jan, by the way, welcome to hell.. I mean Tombstone,” Jan looked at Logan.
“And hell it is,” Ben agreed.
Logan shook his head at me and said, “Nay again there Ma’am that’d be a negative, I am looking into a few things...yah know of anything needing to be built or anything I been used tha manual labor...” he winked at Jan.
“Don’t know of anything needing to be built but there’s always work for a carpenter around here, I’m sure,” I said.
“Manual labour, hmm?” Jan asked.
“If ya go talk to miss pet..tell her I said ya can have my job at the hotel,” Ben suggested.
“Yeah, she’s at the hotel here,” Seth nodded.
“You ain’t gonna work at the hotel anymore Ben?” I asked.
Logan winked at Jan again and chuckled, folding his arms. “What yah do there at the hotel?” he asked Ben.
“Nope, not as long as she keepin that two timing wench employed there still,” Ben answered me and then looked at Logan. “Oh I fixed things that needed fixin..and well ::patted his guns:: just looked after it when the need arose.”
“Got a new job yesterday,” Seth said proudly.
“What ya doin’ now, Seth?”
“Thought the star on my chest proved the job,” he said and I turned to look at him.
“I suppose I could offer the work of fixins...” Logan trailed off.
“I recon I should say I feel sorry for ya,” Ben smirked, “But good luck with all that...”
“Ah, a ranger,” I nodded to Seth.
“Another law dog,” Jan rolled her eyes.
“Well I used to have a job as a bisbee lawman. so being a ranger is new to me,” Seth said.
“I’m gonna go and sit in my tree and get some work done,” I said then. “See ya’ll later.”
“Talk to you later, detective,” Seth said and I headed to the tree in Bisbee to get some paperwork done.
