Colorado Springs.
This morning I found Adder in the saloon so we played Poker while drinking coffee. We greeted someone who came into town. They asked if there was going to b a hanging but neither Adder or I had heard about it. We realized that the person meant the hanging of Levi and said it had happened a week ago. Kai introduced herself and watched us play, then had to leave.
Chane came in and so did Annie. I tried to convince Chane to join the game and introduced Adder and Chane. Chane joined the game and the three of us continued to play Poker. I landed up winning and then said, “Now I'm confused... Which one of you has to buy drinks?” Both of them said they’d get drinks then Adder landed up paying for them as I said, “Thanks Sheriff. Quite the turn of luck from yesterday's game, eh?”
“Aye. I’ll get you back though Trin, don’t you worry.”
The three of us drank whiskey and I leaned back against Chane happily. “Sure beats workin, eh?”
“Y’all play everyday?” Chane asked.
“Pretty much every day there ain’t somethin’ to do. So yeah, pretty much every day,” I winked at him and Adder laughed.
“Hell! You mus be a millionaire then!”
Taurus ain’t that bad... He won yesterday. Glad you came by today, darlin. Just out for a stroll?”
“Yep, seein’ whut kanda trouble I kin git into,” he chuckled.
“How’s Jade doing since the fire? And Bravo?”
“Ain’t seen her since you n’I did.”
“Ah okay. Just thought maybe you’d been back in Amiville since.”
“Ain’t in a rollin’ chair no more though.”
“That’s good then.”
“N’I don’t know her daddy...”
I started to explain about Bravo but then shook my head. “Ain’t really much worth tellin from that story.” I drank my whiskey as if the drink would wash away the memories. “Sure is nice not having guns goin off every dang day, ain’t it?” I looked over at Adder.
“Told ya this was the change ya needed.”
“Aye its certainly an improvement.”
“Is quiet round here,” Chane agreed.
I set my whiskey glass down and looked at Chane. “Walk me home darlin? I gotta get some rest. Didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Sure, ya ready?” he asked.
“Mmhmm. Taurus, you know where to find me.”
“Sure. You two take care,” Adder said and we headed across the street where I said goodbye to Chane before getting to work on some writing.
