Colorado Springs.
This morning I rode into Colorado and talked with Jake and Chels who were on his way over to Kingsley. “Red Viper was at the saloon the other day. Said she was looking for the Black brothers,” I told them. Angelo was with her.”
“I see... Hmm, where was that?” Jake nodded.
“In Nebraska. Not sure why they were out there lookin. Seemed a bit off the beaten path. Anyway I’ll let you two go. Was gonna see if Amelia was around.”
“Well Nebraska is already taken care off by some other Marshals... We don’t go there,” Jake smiled and then said about Amelia, “Haven’t seen her today yet.”
We said goodbye and they rode of and I went to find Amelia, but she wasn’t home.
Nebraska.
Tonight I walked over to Charles’ house but he wasn’t there so I went to find Dom and Quiet. They showed me the new schoolhouse and then I found Charles. I talked with him for a bit and then continued riding since he wasn’t all that interested in company.
Kansas.
I rode into Kansas and saw Hawk and DD. “Law just left,” Deedee said. “Did not arrest chief though.”
“Somethin goin on?” I looked at Hawk.
“Haaahe Trin, how are you thins moon?” He shook his head and said, “No is man that used to run traded post in Amiville; he came to visit.”
“Ah I see. So everything’s good here?”
“Yes, village has been peaceful which is good, well beside DD terrorize buffalo,” he chuckled and ruffled her hair and I laughed. “How are things with marshal man?”
I looked at him and sighed. “Hawk, if I could figure out men... I just ran into him in town and... was like he could’ve cared less if I was there.”
“Hmm think that is not possible Trin. Maybe just have to find good one, be happy and not worry about figuring out.”
“It’s the be happy part I’m having a hard time with,” I nodded.
“Why is that?”
“Just bored, Hawk.”
“Well bored comes from with in. No one can take that from you but yourself Trin, only you can make you happy,” he said wisely.
“I guess..” I nodded to him and then greeted Sasha as she came over and hugged Hawk. I watched them together and sighed.
“How have you been Trin?” Sasha asked.
Hawk looked at me and said, “it is right Trin, other can make your happiness more and better, but must be happy with yourself first.”
“I guess...”
“No guess,” Hawk chuckled. “Ask DD chief knows everything,” he laughed.
“I know ya do...” I chuckled and winked at him. “Not arguing that point.” When Sasha raised an eyebrow I said, “I need a man, Sasha. One that’s gonna be around more often and actually care that I’m around..”
“I’m sure the right one is out there somewhere. Just need to be patient,” Sasha said. “Sasha argues that point all the time, and usually right,” Hawk smiled and took Sasha’s hand.
“I have doubts on how wise he really is,” Sasha admitted.
“Wise person never decides they are wise, and always seeking to learn more,” Hawk said.
“Like not jumping on alligator's heads to trap them?” Sasha prodded.
Hawk chuckled, “See made you have more wisdom!”
“Yes...not to trust your advice,” Sasha laughed.
“Law come,” DD told Sasha then.
“What law?”
“US Marshal.”
“What did they want?”
“Chief been making that moonshine. He saw still.”
“Yes, looking for notorious outlaw called Sasha the kid,” Hawk teased.
“Sasha the kid, eh? Sounds notorious,” Sasha smirked.
“Well I think I’ll head out,” I said, feeling out of place suddenly around the little family.
“You family too Trin,” DD looked at me.
“Already have half Paleskin in family, might as well have full one,” Hawk laughed.
“Too bad ya didn’t have an older son I could marry into the family, Hawk.”
“We got Shane,” DD said.
“Yes, Shane,” Sasha nodded.
“Isn’t he taken?” I asked.
“No, he fun. DD’s buddy,” the girl said.
“Yes not sure where Shane is though. Do not think he is not sure though,” Hawkw nodded.
“Him not. Well was not yesterday.”
“Would have been nice if Red and I could’ve made it work... But we didn’t want to rush into anything if he was gonna be busy so much lately...” I said.
“Yes, not a good way of starting a relationship,” Sasha agreed.
“Is good thing sister, he has not been in village,” Hawk nodded.
“Shane give you lot of time,” DD promised.
“I knew it was the right decision. Would have been so easy to just enjoy the moments but.. I don’t want to be sitting here waiting for him to come all the time,” I said.
“Yes, and he loves to do a lot of fun things,” Sasha nodded.
“It just seems like.... moving out here nothing’s really happening. Though I moved here because I knew it was safer...”
“Is peaceful most time. Not always,” DD said.
“I miss solving cases... Talking with people at the saloon...”
“It is hard to tell... sometimes much going on, sometimes not much out here in these lands,” Hawk said.
We talked about DD’s pets and then I decided to head home and said goodnight to them before heading home.
