Amiville.
This morning I sat in the saloon with a group of people around me and took out my notebook, ready to write. “I need to write a new story. Anybody got any ideas?”
“I could tell ya about the time I saved the entire town,” Buu announced and I chuckled.
“Ya did, did ya?” I chuckled as Mel said, “Entire town?”
“Yep,” Buu nodded.
“I’m listenin’,” I looked at Buu with interest.
“You can listen and write, Miss?” Aurora joked.
“I am mighty talented, Miss,” I winked at her.
“I’m sure. Ain’t nuttin to go braggin’ bout, how ya make yer livin’. Ya gon get buu here all excited.”
“Pull up a chair, Buu,” I told him.
“Well it was a few days ago, or a day ago. I met this guy called Blood Hawks.”
“I’ve seen him around,” I nodded.
“He was threatening to blow up the entire town. He already managed to seduce the deputy Miss Kitty. They were both planning on using a lot of TNT in order to destroy Amiville.”
“Why on earth would they do that?”
“‘Cause he’s a bad man and had her under some sort of spell.”
“‘Tis true Miss. They were askin’ if I had any TNT. Now why in hell would I carry such a thing?!” Aurora asked.
“Yes,” Buu nodded. “You see Aurora saw the whole incident.”
“So what happened, Buu?” I asked.
“Well I got up and pointed my finger to them and said in a heroic voice, ‘Not on my watch!’”
“So then how did they respond, Buu?” I chuckled.
“They laughed evily. They said, ‘You’ll never stop us, Buu!’”
“Poor Buu...” Mel said.
“Aw hell, no Buu ain’t poor. Not since Miss Rosaline paid him all that gold for servicing her yesterday,” Aurora said.
“Well, I didn’t have to say anything. I drew my guns and opened fire. Well after they lay on the floor shot, Miss Allison comes up. She was very angry. She said that I had ruined their plan.”
“Their... plan?” I asked. “Did she want to blow up the town too?”
“Yes,” Buu nodded. “She was in on it too.”
“She wanted ta blow somethin’ I’m sure...” Aurora said and Buu laughed.
“Oh my... This story just gets worse and worse...”
“Well, she tried to shoot me too...”
“Might I add emphasis on ‘tried’?” Aurora shrugged.
“Yes she definitely tried,” Buu turned and grinned to Aurora and she winked.
“Well, I had to shoot her down too,” he said and I shook my head. “I told them all that if I was to find anymore about this plan of theirs, I would hunt them all down.”
“And what has happened since?”
“I told them all that if I was to find anymore about this plan of theirs, I would hunt them all down.”
“And what has happened since?”
“I hope you reported this to Zakk,” Chels put in
“The law wouldn’t believe me,” Buu sighed. “Kitty and Allison are law. They won’t believe them over me.”
“Or they...” Chels stopped herself.
“Ya know somethin’ ya ain’t tellin’ us, Chels?” I looked at her.
“Looks at Trin. I wasn’t here... So don’t know a thing.”
“Well, I reckon I’ve scared them off for now,” Buu continued. “But they may try it again at some point.”
“I wonder why they would do such a thing...” I looked around the room.
“It had something to do with the gold.”
“Don’t it always” I shook my head.
“I’m not sure about the connection,” Buu said. “Miss Trin, can you spread the word about this? People won’t believe me.”
“Of course... That’s what I’m here for, Buu,” I smiled at him.
“But I’m sure they will believe a respectable reporter such as yourself.”
I chuckled and said, “They didn’t believe me about Dutch, but I was right on that the whole time...”
“Well they have to believe you... Before it’s too late,” he said in his dramatic heroic voice again.
“Maybe I could talk to Zakk...” I nodded.
“If he suspects you I know he will try and kill you,” Buu warned.
“Would be more thrillin’ than sittin’ around here all day waitin’ for something to happen...”
“Well he will deny it of course.”
“Maybe if I talked to Kitty or Allison...”
“They will deny it too.”
“Then there’s nothing we can really do, can we?”
“You have to talk to Zakk and the other marshals and sheriffs.”
I looked over to Chels and said, “Well I reckon we just told one...”
Conversation continued around us and Aurora then announced that someone shot her and Buu got angry, asking if he was outside. He walked outside but Aurora insisted that he stayed inside but he ran out. Chels ran outside to take care of the situation.
I walked out of the saloon and started to walk away when Buu nodded to me, “I’m counting on you to get this story out... Don’t let me down.”
“I’ll try not to, Buu,” I swallowed, nervous. “Let you down, that is.”
Later that night I walked into town and saw Aurora, Buu and a man I didn’t know outside. Buu pulled his guns out and started shooting before quickly holstering them. The gunshots made me jump and he pulled out his gun again, watching Stacie down the road as he fired another shot. Buu told Aurora that he was trying to find some fun and I told him that I could show him some fun, and he asked me what kind of fun.
“I’ll do just about anythin’ to shut those guns up,” I looked at him seriously.
“Like what?” he chuckled.
“Not here,” I folded my arms across my chest.
“What sort of guy do you take me for?” Buu looked at me then.
“Don’t know, Buu.”
“You think you can just batter yer eyes at me and I’ll fall on my knees?”
“One minute ya act like yer stealin’ the saloon, the next yer out here shoutin’ at a man who’s run away, and the next yer shootin shots in the air for no reason.”
“I like to keep people guessing,” he laughed, making me glare at him.
“Naw. When a girl’s mean she really means she likes you,” Aurora pointed out.
I shook my head and went into the saloon. Shooting continued outside and Gramps asked if Buu was trying to get himself arrested. I went over to sit at the table and then heard Chels arresting Buu outside so I went over to hear better. Buu told Aurora that they should go since people around there were crazy and Stacie pointed out that he’s already on bail and shouldn’t even have guns in town. Aurora started to say that she was the one doing the shooting but Chels disagreed, pointing out the truth. The stand-off continued between Buu and the lawmen and it wasn’t long before Buu pulled out his guns again and admitted he was the one who did the shooting. The lawmen continued to tell him to holster his guns but he didn’t listen and started shooting again. They gave chase and I watched from the saloon, wishing I could have followed closer but knowing that I was safer to avoid it and headed home. From in the distance I heard Aurora shouting, “Go to hell!”
I went home and wrote for a while, letting things around town calm down. Before long I took a walk down the street towards the sheriff’s office. I asked Chels about what happened with the situation from earlier and she told me to go find Foxie. She was nowhere to be find though and I decided to head home.
