November 16, 1869

Nebraska.

This afternoon I showed Kale around my new newspaper office building and upstairs to show him my room. I decided to change into some Native clothes and and we walked outside. I saw the boy who was in the wheelchair and we talked with him for a while about his ability to move around in it. I showed him and Kale around the hotel down the street and then Kale and the boy headed on their way.

Georgetown.

I wandered into Georgetown to see if I could find any writers for the newspaper from there. I found a woman sitting in front of the saloon. “Hello there ma’am! I’m looking for Sam Stillwater... He still live arouned these parts?”

“Yes Ma’am I’m just waiting for him to catch me up.”

“Catch you up?”

“He’s not far behind me... fiddling about with some things in his shop ... as fellas do.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t introduce myself. My name’s Trin Paige. I’m just starting a newspaper based in Nebraska.. I’m hoping to cover a few of the areas around Nebraska and Georgetown was on my list of places to check out.”

“I see,” she nodded. “I’m Downy Stillwater... Sam’s my husband.”

“I heard about the Pinkerton’s and Sam in Amiville a long while back... Oh! Downy, well it’s a pleasure to meet you! Well if he’s busy I can always come back tomorrow.”

“Alright ma’am that’s fine, send a message ahead and we’ll organize ta meet ya somewhere warm.”

“Sounds great. I’ll do that. Thanks, Downy,” I said and headed home.

I headed back towards home and then ran into Jade. We talked about the weather and the blizzard in Colorado and how cold it was. We talked about me starting up a newspaper in Nebraska and she remembered me doing the paper in Amiville. I introduced her to my dog as he came over and we talked some more about the area.

A few minutes later I found Dances with Fire and we came to Nebraska where I showed her my house. I made her some apple pie and she ate it and loved it, having never ha it before. She played with my dog and talked about making a lot of food before the snow came. We talked about people in her tribe and how I hoped they trusted me even though I was still new.

Wyoming.

“Well now that we’ve got you safe back here... No one’s even here tonight,” I said and looked around. I don’t feel right about headin back home and leavin ya here all alone overnight.”

“It usually like dat.”

“You don’t get scared?”

“Well some times mys doggy keep me from gets scared but hims out huntin right nows. Sit wif mes,” she said and I sat down beside her as we talked for a while before others came to the village and I headed home.
