Kingsley.

This evening I walked through town and waevd to Kilyko and the others. She was talking to them about if they’d seen a black mare running around and I figured she’d lost one of her horses. One woman said she’d seen one like her riding by the fort. Kilyko was worried about the horse and greeted me as I reached down to play with a kitten running around. “How are things, my friend?” I asked her when we were alone.

“Oh their good...and how are you?”

“Bored, but what else is new. Looking for something to do.”

“There is a lot to do around here. I am sure you can find something to do…”

“Such as?” I looked at her with a doubtful expression.

“Ask around. Perhaps someone can find you a job to do,” she grinned. I chuckled at the word ‘job’ and she said, “I haven’t seen Sun Stone in a few days.”

“So it’s not just me then... I thought he was avoiding me now that he’s been so occupied with his new friends…”

“I think he is catching up on some much needed sleep…” Kilyko nodded slowly.

“Maybe so. I guess we all needed that time of rejuvenation after leaving Colorado. I’m just ready to get back at it again.”

“Then get at it!” she laughed.

“Can I ask you a question…?” I looked around.

“Sure, what is it?”

“Do you know much about the Scorpions?”

“Uh…..?” she gave me a baffled look. “Just have only heard the name...reckon it ain’t my business either and I would like to keep it that way… but why do you need that information… you know…” she went quiet.

“Just been curious on how people perceive other people around here.”

“Trin I love you dearly but I think you are barking up the wrong tree this time and should seriously reconsider the thing’s you told me about earlier…. it would only bring you trouble and for your freinds as well…” she gave me a serious look.

That’s why I’m asking, Kilyko. I’m not so sure I should have been so quick to the opportunity with them.”

She frowned and narrowed her eyes lightly and told me, “The group… we are friends with have helped us… and back us up with trouble… and I would appreciate it if you simply stayed away from the other side of the line if you know what I mean…”

“So maybe I should just join Adder’s group instead then,” I sighed. “Thing is... I really want to be a detective again but doing that in these parts could get dangerous…”

“I do not think you quite understand Trin…. and I think I need to go have a nice bottle of whiskey and a bit of something else before I explode… we will talk when I am calm..” She clenched her fists in anger and started to stalk off.

“Kilyko, wait…” I sighed and went after her. I sighed as she watched her go, wondering what just happened. I realized I shouldn’t be apart of any group and should just wander aimlessly with no ties whatsoever. Apparently I wasn’t worth anything to anyone in particular anyway, so I decided to investigate things for my own curiosity. I got on my horse and rode off, not sure where my new journey would take me, but I knew I had to leave the past behind me.
