February 18, 1870

Colorado.

This morning I was walking around Colorado and saw Adder. I waved to him as I headed to the new hotel and talked with Free about the new building. I walked into the saloon and saw Roy and Pia dancing and then walked back out into the street where I talked to Tulkas and Chels. We talked about Jake and Tom and greeted Ida and Baron.

Chels and I met a man named Conner who was a deputy in Amiville. When I said who I was he looked at me with wide eyes. “Ah, Miss Paige! You are Mother’s friend.”

“Who is your mother?” I raised an eyebrow.

“I am Cannalilly’s adopted Son,” he laughed.

“Oh, Canna. Yes I know her well. Pleasure to meet you,” I smiled.

“She talks about you...I guess I pictured you to be a little larger than life, an Amazon. Miss Trin you are little.”

“Oh does she? Didn’t know I was larger than life…”

“Sure, I figure anybody Mother would fight along side with would be big and tough.”

“I fight with more than physical strength, Sir,” I smiled.

“Clearly,” he laughed.

“How is your mother? Safe and sound I hope.”

“She’s doing well. She likes living out there with the Cherokee.”

I swallowed hard and looked at Chels, then Conner. “Glad someone is doing well with them.”

“I don’t even go there to visit. I might lose my scalp.”

“I don’t exactly go over there anymore myself,” I shook my head. “Well I’m glad to hear that Canna is doing well.”

“Well, ladies I think I’ll stroll arund and get used to the lay out this fine town. I’ll send your greetings to Mother.”

“Do that,” I nodded and we said goodbye as he wandered off. I smiled over at Chels and said, “That was unexpected.” We decided to head back to our homes and said goodbye.

This evening, I walked back into town and saw a group in front of the saloon. I watched as they were trying to get the horse to stay and they weren’t having the best of luck. I moved closer and approached the horse cautiously, talking in a calming voice, but the horse was too spooked. I told Twist to give the horse time and I headed into the saloon to get a drink. I talked with people there and I told them about how much I used to be able to calm down horses, but lately my voice had more bite than I’d wanted. After a while I headed home to bed.
