November 27, 1900

Tombstone.

This evening I walked into town and waved to a woman sitting on the bench in front of the hotel. Garth, Spin, Lot and Mac were shouting back and forth by the bank and then I heard Will join in the group. Shouts went around and gunshots, and then it wasn’t long before people wandered towards the clinic.

“Well that was exciting,” Will said randomly and I looked over, having been focused on my notes.

“Hmm?” I asked him. “Something happening? I think I’ve learned to tune out the shooting over the years.”

“Yes, ranger shot one,” Will said to me and then went to look around.

“Guess I should go over to the clinic,” I sighed and wandered over to the clinic. Lot was standing outside and I asked him, “Busy night, Lot?”

“I give up. Is it?” Lot asked.

“I dunno. I tuned out the gunfight until someone said ‘that was exciting’. Think I’ve become immune to it.”

Lot shook his head and found another spot to stand as I wandered inside the clinic. “Trin, you a doc/“ Spin asked me.

“Nope. Just wondering who shot whom,” I shook my head.

“I shot em both a nasty look,” Garth declared.

“Well this time the law is standin Miss Trin,” Mac said from a bed.

“I’m well aware, Mac,” I smiled at him.

Doll walked in then and Spin and Garth to patch up Mac, who’d gotten shot.

“Spin, you shot down Mac?” I asked.

“You forget to duck again, Mac?” Doll asked.

“We got one wounded, and one who has grown bear fur, a ranger, and some know it all snotty pants Pinkerton, and then there is me,” Lot summarized.

“Yes, I did,” Mac nodded to Doll.

“Was an accident. His guns messed up,” Spin said.

“More like duck, roll and cover,” Garth muttered.

“Alright then,” I chuckled and looked over at Lot. “Snotty pants?”

“Yup, that would be you Miss Trin,” Lot nodded.

“It’s my business to be a know it all,” I shrugged.

“Hey, my fur is lovely,” Garth said about his garments.

“Yes Garth, the sorta fur only yer mother would love,” Lot told him and looked at me. “No it’s not. You just think it is.”

“Have fun folks,” I said and gave Spin a wink before heading out of the clinic. I wandered back to the hotel, still shaking my head in amusement.

“Where is everyone tonight?” Abi was asking.

“Law got one down. So the Wild Bunch are all over there holding Mac’s hand,” I told her.

“Well they were here till the attempted bank robbery,” Grant said. “Which quickly went ‘south’,” he laughed.

“Well if they would behave perhaps they would not stay in so much trouble,” Abi said.

“Mmhmm. Very true, Abi,” I smiled at her. “Quite the docket this week. Should be some good trials.”

“Yes this is true Abi, but then I think they would ‘die’  of boredom,” Grant said and we chuckled.

“Yes they would. You know idle hands and all,” Abi nodded.

Chris came over then and we greeted him and Grant said that he played his banjo and guitar to keep himself less idle. He greeted me then and I chuckled at how long it had taken him to notice my presence. Zan and Lisa joined us then and Grant told Lisa he was proud of her because she didn’t seem to make trouble tonight. I waved to everyone and headed back to the office.
