November 17, 1900

Bisbee.

This afternoon I played piano and sang in Bisbee and looked around to see that I didn’t know anyone who had come to listen to me. I met Misty and Jung and then another man who didn’t introduce himself said, “I am looking for a breed called Irish..do you happen to know him.”

“Why do you ask for him?”

“My business, not the Pinkerton’s.”

“Your business is the Pinkertons if you’re asking about someone’s wherabouts I like to know why before I answer.”

“Because you asked..it is old business from where he comes from…”

“Old business huh?”

“So do you know him or not Detective..?”

“Well maybe I should ask him if he wants to see you again.”

“I doubt he will.. but you ask if you please..” The man nodded.

“I most certainly will,” I looked him up and down. “Who knows where he is though. He is like the wind that one, not easily found.”

“Well if and when you see him ..tell him that Bear Makaid is looking for him.”

“Bear Makaid huh…?”

“Yeah..something wrong with the name..”

“Just repeating it so I know it well when I find him,” I shrugged. “Where are you staying, Sir?”

“Here and there. Don’t like staying in one place too long..”

“Why is that not surprising? “ I smirked.

“I will be around town.”

“Then I guess I can’t tell him where to find you if I find him before you do.”
“That’s fine with me,” Bear tipped his hat and walked out. I watched him walk out and frowned, feeling suspicious around him.

I looked over at the couple I’d just met and shook my head. “Not sure how I feel about him. Don’t like the idea of my cousin bein’ in trouble if that guy finds him.”

“I’m guessing he is not dangerous,” Misty said. “I think it’s personal like I think. Maybe he is his father, just my gut feeling.”

“Didn’t realize he was lookin’ for someone so close to you,” Jung said.

“A man will tell the world when he has a grudge will call the man out and challenge him but when it’s personal to his heart they act that way,” Misty said.

“Mmhmm.”

“I wasn’t about to give my cousin’s location if he won’t tell me what he wants with him,” I nodded.

“Smart lady you are,” Misty nodded.

“Not my first rodeo,” I winked and she laughed. “Are you folks staying here in Bisbee? There is a nice hotel here in town.”

“We rented a home in Bisbee.”

“Oh fantastic! I’ve often thought about moving back this way but I do like my home in Pearce. It’s right on the water.”

“Sounds lovely.”

“Yes it’s an exciting town here and we are looking forward to what it brings,” Jung said.

“Mmhmm it is. Maybe my boyfriend and I could have you both over for dinner,” I said. “Though I’m not sure boyfriend is the right term. We’re as good as married just not legally. We’re kind of the unconventional family,” I chuckled.

“Indeed we are just starting to travel. Been wanting to go to Diamond but my husband will not hear of it to much rough waters there,” Misty laughed.

“Wow thanks, that would be lovely,” Jung smiled.

“Well you should make an honest man of him,” Misty grinned.
“Right, Diamond.. used to live there as well,” I smiled. “I’ve only known him for five months... too soon for marriage.” Misty whispered something to Jung and I said, “And I’m still an honest women. We ain’t sleepin together in that sense. I even adopted a young girl, well, she adopted me. And Thomas adopted a young boy. They’re best friends so it kind of works.”

“Dinner would be lovely and I’m sure Misty can behave herself,” Jung smiled.

“That would be fun. Hopefully we can set that up sometime this week then. I should head home and change and then go warn my cousin.”

“If I get into your elixer I may not be able to honey,” Misty laughed softly. “I will bring desert if that is favorable for you?”

“You can have the temperance one, sugar,” Jung told her.

“That one makes me sleepy its no fun honey,” she pouted.

“Have a good evening folks. I will come find you at some point again I’m sure.”

“Great Trin I look forward to it,” Misty smiled.

“May the wind be at your back Trin,” Jung said.

“May your paths be quick and successful,” Misty added.

“See you folks!” I waved and headed out of the saloon.
