June 15, 1901

Tombstone.

I walked down the street this morning and saw Bella sitting in front of the hotel. I told her that I was performing in Bisbee soon and I told her, “My kids told me they showed you a bag of money at the orphanage…”

“Yes. I told them that they could turn them into the bank or a figure of government. They also get a share of it for being the founders.”

“I was hoping they would talk to someone at a bank as well. Or perhaps the sheriff. At least they told their father… I’m curious where they found it.”

“They thought they were going to jail. I told them that they weren’t but they wouldn’t listen. I am too. I tried asking Sarah for it but she wouldn’t tell.”

“That sounds about right. They came home pretty upset. I’ll have to try and get it out of them somehow.”

“They said that they were going to give some to me, but I told them that I was working for the money and I wasn’t going to steal some else’s.”

“Oh did they? Why would they give you some?” I chuckled.

“Because... in order to adopt Sarah, I need to have a safe home.”

“Oh I see.”

“And so far, I live in a small hotel room were we could be hurt. Sarah’s also convinced that if I get a home, I could tell Chris something.”

“And what would you tell the reverend?” I grinned widely.

Bella chuckled and shrugged. “I don’t exactly know yet… but Sarah wants him as a father.”

“Oh really? And how do you feel about that idea?”

“Well, I feel hopeful and I… Like it kind of. Chris is sweet, brave, kind, funny, smart… He makes me feel important.”

“He’s a good man, that’s for sure. Does he know how you feel?”

“I don’t think so. I think he likes Kenzie.”

“Oh does he? I don’t know her all that well.”

“She’s pretty, and she flirts with him. She’s been here longer then me. That and she’s also a dove. She’s familiar with flirting with a man.”

“Yes, they do have experience in that area,” I said with a nod. “But don’t let that deter you if you really have feelings for the man. Well I need to head to the house and change for the gig before heading over to the Stock Exchange. I hope to see you there at 1. Take care, hon.”

I waved to her and headed to Bisbee where I played at the saloon.
